Court Approves Automatic Electronic Delivery of Juror Questionnaires

December 13, 2013

The Western District of Michigan has been pilot-testing for several months a process of automatically delivering electronic juror questionnaires to attorneys of record three business days before trial. The questionnaires are compiled in a single PDF document with a bookmark to each questionnaire. Remote access to the juror questionnaires is removed by the court at the conclusion of the jury selection process. The pilot program was very well received. As such, the Western District of Michigan judges approved the electronic juror questionnaire process for use in all cases in the district. The program is an effective use of available technology and should be of significant benefit to attorneys practicing in the district.
