Varnum attorney Sarah Wixson has been named to Fair Food Network’s Board of Directors.
Based in Detroit, Fair Food Network is a national nonprofit and investor growing community health and wealth through food by strengthening local economies, partnering in nourishing communities, and long-term systems change. In 2023, Fair Food Network invested $6.4 million into communities and reached over 200,000 households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Wixson joins a diverse board of business and community leaders committed to “expand[ing] healthy food choices and spark[ing] economic opportunity”.
Wixson is a litigation partner and serves as Co-Chair of the Health Care Practice Team. Her practice covers an array of services and industries, including health care, business, litigation and real estate. As a litigator, Wixson has successfully prosecuted claims and defended corporate clients and individuals in connection with partnership agreements, contracts, business arrangements, shareholder disputes, real estate matters and complex commercial litigation.
Recognized for her professional excellence, Wixson was named an “Influential Woman of Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2023 and a “Notable Woman in Law” by Crain’s Detroit Business in 2024, an honor recognizing only 31 attorneys. Additionally, Best Lawyers® named her to the “Ones to Watch” list, a designation given to attorneys for outstanding professional excellence in private practice.
Outside of her practice, Wixson is the Co-Chair of the Women’s Affinity Group at Varnum and serves on three councils for the Michigan Health & Hospital Association. She graduated from Wayne State University Law School and earned her undergraduate degree from Hope College.
