First-Chair Trial Lawyers J. David Garcia and Jaye Quadrozzi Strengthen Firm’s “Bet-The-Company” Litigation Capabilities
Varnum LLP is pleased to announce its acquisition of Young, Garcia & Quadrozzi (YGQ), a leading litigation boutique based in Southeast Michigan. YGQ’s leaders J. David Garcia and Jaye Quadrozzi will join the firm’s Birmingham office as Partners, along with two business professionals.Â
YGQ, originally founded by legendary Detroit litigator Rodger Young, brings to Varnum and its clients a substantial track record of outstanding trial results involving multimillion-dollar, complex commercial and intellectual property disputes in Michigan and nationally. From a complete jury-trial victory in the Eastern District of Texas on behalf of Arthrex—the global leader in arthroscopic surgery—that protected certain of the medical device manufacturer’s patents, to winning the dismissal of all claims against UHY in a $40 million action brought in the Northern District of California alleging breach of fiduciary duty, and the firm’s routine representation of auto suppliers in both emergency actions and long-term business disputes, YGQ’s litigation pedigree amplifies Varnum’s platform and growth trajectory in Southeast Michigan and beyond.Â
“We are excited to have YGQ join forces with Varnum,” said Firm Chair Jon Bylsma. “Dave and Jaye’s exceptional trial expertise and proven track record of handling high-stakes commercial and intellectual property litigation align perfectly with our commitment to providing top-tier legal services. This acquisition further builds our litigation firepower in Southeast Michigan.”
For YGQ, the decision to join Varnum was driven by a shared vision and complementary strengths. The boutique firm recognized the tremendous value of joining forces with a larger, full-service firm that shares its passion for litigation and client-centered approach.
“Joining Varnum was a natural fit for us,” said Jaye Quadrozzi. “The firm’s full-service platform, commitment to client service and deep roster of litigators across a multitude of specialties provides the resources YGQ needed to further deliver outstanding results for our clients.”
Dave Garcia, who joined YGQ under Rodger Young’s tutelage in 1999, echoed these sentiments: “We have always prided ourselves on being true trial lawyers who thrive in the courtroom. Varnum’s knack for trying cases and their commitment to excellence make this merger an exciting step forward. We look forward to combining our expertise with theirs and continuing to achieve significant victories for our clients.”
Varnum’s addition of YGQ marks the latest development in the firm’s growth across Michigan and Florida. In the Birmingham office alone, client-led demand has resulted in tremendous expansion from seven attorneys upon launching in 2019 to 30 today.
The firm at large now consists of more than 190 attorneys providing sophisticated clients with creative and astute counsel in their most important business and legal matters.
